Texas is hosting “the biggest free vegan party you’ve ever been to”
Non-profit organization ATX Vegans is set to host a party at Austin’s SXSW Festival featuring free food, music and vegan makeovers.
This Wednesday, March 13, the city will be home to what organizers are calling “the biggest free vegan party you’ve ever been to” — great news for those of us still avoiding a look at our bank balance.
The music showcase, party and panel will be just one part of SXSW, a 10-day affair celebrating film, music and comedy, hosting such stars as Woody Harrelson and Billie Eilish, both of whom happen to be vegan.
ATX Vegans is a Texas non-profit “that builds community through events, activism, fundraising and education”. The organization’s executive director, Britty Hamby, shared the inside scoop on its SXSW appearance with
“We got sponsored by VegFund and Imperfect Produce to throw a panel with thought-leaders around food waste and sustainability, and raised funds to throw a large music showcase featuring vegan, vegetarian and award-winning musical artists,” she said.
Despite the festival featuring a special focus on sustainability, Hamby says joining its roster was no easy task.
“Getting into SXSW is costly and difficult,” she said. “So we’re super proud to be doing it.”
You can register to attend the all-vegan event here. Vegans and non-vegans welcome.
