Vegan singer makes the cut on The Voice spinoff
French-Canadian vegan singer Rafaëlle Roy is dropping jaws on the latest season of francophone The Voice spinoff, La Voix.
Rafaëlle, who’s competing on the team of celebrated singer-songwriter Marc Dupré, chose Celine Dion’s Et Je T’aime Encore for her blind audition. To be clear, that translates to I Love You Still, and definitely does not mean I Love the Encore. This did confuse everybody, right?
Regardless, the title of the song is not half as important as the 24-year-old’s reception on the show. Rafaëlle was met with a series of “wows” and “woos” — you know, the kind of translingual affirmations that even the most monolingual Canadians can keep up with.
Rafaëlle is not only a talented musician, but also a passionate advocate for vegan living. She shares aspects of her vegan lifestyle on Instagram, and can be seen sporting shirts reading “vegan” and “juste de plantes” online. That’s “just plants”, obviously.
Whether you’re a skilled translator, or falling short as a proud member of a bilingual country, you’ll probably want to go ahead and follow Rafaëlle’s work here. This woman can really sing. Clearly. They don’t let just anybody on these things.
