Little Caesars debuts pizza featuring Impossible Foods’ plant-based sausage
Budget US pizza chain Little Caesars has debuted a pie featuring Impossible Foods’ plant-based sausage.
Yes, we know. There’s a “but” here. We all seem to love a good but, so let’s get that out of the way first.
The vegan status of the Impossible Foods range, including the popular Impossible Burger, is the topic of heated debate due to animal testing that occurred in the early stages of production. Amidst the controversy, what we can say for sure is that the product plant-based, meaning Little Caesars has officially staked its claim in the meat-alternative sphere.
Yeah, that’s the same Little Caesars with marketing so meat-centric, its Instagram features animal bits falling from the sky. Surely that’s a bit yuck for both vegans and non-vegans alike — but moving on.
The pizza, dubbed the Impossible Supreme, is topped with the faux sausage, veggies and conventional cheese. Ditch the cheese, and you’ve got yourself a plant-based pie. Those looking to go fully vegan, on the other hand, can order a cheese-free pizza with regular crust, regular sauce and veggies.
Pick your poison, folks. Or have an apple. We’re here to inform, not boss you around. Unless you want to pick up our dry cleaning later.
